Cities
This article provides a complete population-ranked list of the incorporated cities, towns, and villages in Miami-Dade County. Residents, prospective homebuyers, business owners, researchers, and visitors can use the information to compare municipality sizes, identify the county’s largest population centers, and understand how communities across the area differ in scale.
Understanding Miami-Dade County Municipalities
Miami-Dade County contains 34 incorporated municipalities. Although people commonly refer to all of them as cities, their official local-government designations include cities, towns, and villages. Each municipality operates within Miami-Dade County while maintaining its own boundaries, elected government, and local administrative structure.
This list includes incorporated municipalities only. Unincorporated communities and census-designated places are not included because they do not operate as separately incorporated municipal governments. A community may have a recognized name and mailing address without being an incorporated city, town, or village.
The population figures below are from the U.S. Census Bureau Vintage 2025 annual estimates and represent estimated resident populations as of July 1, 2025. These figures are population estimates rather than 2020 Census counts and may be revised in later Census Bureau releases.
Largest Population Centers
Miami is the county’s largest incorporated municipality, with an estimated population of 489,812. Hialeah follows with 230,968 residents, while Miami Gardens has an estimated population of 113,579. These are the only three municipalities in Miami-Dade County with estimated populations above 100,000.
Miami has more than twice the population of Hialeah and more than four times the population of Miami Gardens. Homestead, Doral, and Miami Beach also rank among the county’s largest municipalities, with each having an estimated population above 80,000.
North Miami, Coral Gables, North Miami Beach, and Cutler Bay complete the ten largest municipalities by estimated population. Together, these communities represent a range of urban environments, including major employment centers, coastal communities, established suburban areas, and growing municipalities in southern and western Miami-Dade County.
Smaller Cities, Towns, and Villages
Many Miami-Dade municipalities have fewer than 25,000 residents. These include established residential communities such as Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, Key Biscayne, South Miami, Miami Springs, and Miami Shores.
Several municipalities have estimated populations below 5,000, including Biscayne Park, Bal Harbour, Virginia Gardens, El Portal, Medley, Golden Beach, and Indian Creek. Indian Creek is the county’s least populated incorporated municipality, with an estimated population of 86.
Population alone does not indicate a municipality’s geographic size, density, or development pattern. Some communities occupy small geographic areas but have comparatively high population concentrations, while others contain more land, commercial property, industrial areas, or open space relative to their residential populations.

About the Population Estimates
The estimates are drawn from the U.S. Census Bureau City and Town Population Totals: 2020–2025. The Census Bureau produces annual estimates using information about births, deaths, housing, migration, and other population changes that occurred after the 2020 Census.
Miami-Dade County identifies the area as having 34 incorporated municipalities. Neighborhoods and communities outside municipal boundaries are part of unincorporated Miami-Dade County and are not included in this municipality table.
Annual estimates are useful for comparing recent population patterns, but they should not be treated as exact headcounts. Later Census Bureau vintages may revise previously published estimates as new records, methods, and population data become available.
